M&M Kids is going well. We are thinking of adding a Spanish class for the children as an elective. The pumpkins arrive on October 9. Our Pumpkin Festival is at a different time this year. 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm We are having a showing of "The Great Pumpkin" in the pumpkin patch!
Commitment Sunday is October 24. I will be sending home some ideas for parents to use with their children. Dr. Bozeman will be preaching about our presence and then our gifts. Teaching our children to be cheerful givers when they are young is what God intends for us to do as parents. Encourage your child to do extra chores around the house for their Sunday School offering. Or have them designate a portion of their allowance for God.
Did you know that the children's offering goes for children in our area who need coats, food, etc.? Please encourage and remind your child to bring in their offering every Sunday.
Trunk or Treat will be held on Wednesday, October 27. Anyone wishing to decorate their car and hand out treats to the children are welcome to participate. A prize will be given to the "Best Trunk".
Your children are gifts from God. I thank him everyday for giving me the opportunity to be with them.
Parents can prepare their children for understanding what we pledge in church membership by helping them give of their prayers (making a list of those to pray for), presence (being sure they attend regularly, both SS and worship for elemenatry age, and helping them understand what we do in worship), gifts (both money gifts and talents), service (involving them in doing things for others, and pointing out that this is a part of being a Christian), and witness (encouraging them to share something special about their church with others) They also need to see their parents following up on these pledges too.
